FalFilm, our membership-based community cinema club, has now been running for almost 12 months.

​

From the outset, our aim has been to bring people together in a relaxed and welcoming environment while showcasing a wide variety of films. Over the past year, we’ve screened films across a range of genres, appealing to diverse tastes, with an average audience of around 17 members per screening.

 

As our film licence is due for renewal in June 2026, we are now inviting members to renew their membership for the upcoming season, which will run from June 2026 to May 2027.

We’ve taken on board the film suggestions shared by members and are pleased to include a number of these in the forthcoming programme. Recently, four of us met to review films for the coming year, and with two new additions to the FalFilm team, there will be an even greater variety of film choices.

 

We have also decided to introduce at least six additional Friday evening screenings throughout the year. These will focus on less mainstream films, each introduced with a short talk or synopsis by Mark Rivers, who originally came up with the name FalFilm.

In addition, we will be offering occasional Sunday afternoon screenings featuring classic black-and-white films, including favourites such as the Ealing Comedies.

We hope this approach, combined with an active membership contributing film ideas, will broaden our appeal and continue to grow our audience.
